This year’s conference will feature experienced and knowledgeable professionals and caregivers providing you with the very latest insights and support in caregiving. Continuing Education Units will be available. The conference will be held at the Crowne Plaza in Blue Ash. (8:00 a.m. – 4:15 p.m.)
“The Caregiving Experience: Creating Tools for Hope”
A dynamic program focusing on how to keep hope alive in sharing care. The day will be filled with helpful tools and tips for the family caregiver and for the professional caring for older adults. Additional program sessions offer insight from brain fitness practices and techniques to demonstrations on several holistic natural healing modalities. Who is at risk for polypharmacy? 8:45 Keynote: “CareSharing: Creating Hope and Heart”
Speaker: Marty Richards, M.S.W., L.I.C.S
This presentation will describe how care partnering is related to resilience and reciprocity in relationships and will explain the role of “spirituality” in keeping hope alive in caring for self and others.

10:30 “The Miracle Mind: Sonya’s Story”
Presenter: Stephenie Rulli, M.Ed., H.R.D.
This segment will introduce Sonya’s true story of how she developed the Miracle Mind program to help her mother-in-law to overcome the debilitating effects of a stroke. The surprising result is when the familial foundation is strong, a family can survive virtually any obstacle.

12:30 “Brain Fitness: You Are Your Brain”

During this presentation, you will discover what normal aging is versus disease related impairments. You will understand how the brain ages, learn actions that can reverse aging, and find out what you can do daily to keep your brain sharp.

2:00 Session A: “The World’s Other Drug Problem: Medication with the Elderly”
Presenter: Philip Lars Weisfelder, M.D., F.H.M., Hospitalists of Mt. Auburn, Inc.
What is Polypharmacy? It means “many drugs” and refers to problems that can occur when a patient is taking more medications than are actually needed. It is a particular concern for older adults. You will learn about medications considered potentially inappropriate for those over 65 and will become familiar with Beer’s Life of these medications. Sponsored by Mullaney’s Pharmacy
Session B: “Tools for Healthy Living- Healing Modalities”
Moderator: Liz Tassone, Gerontologist
