11th Annual Su Casa Banquet a big success
The 11th Annual Su Casa Awards Banquet was held on Tuesday, April 20 at the Cintas Center on the campus of Xavier University. Over 350 people attended the event, which is the major fundraiser for Su Casa Hispanic Center. This year’s event featured an expanded silent auction highlighting the many cultural events and happenings that are a part of the Greater Cincinnati region. Musicians and dancers provided the entertainment for the attendees this year.
The highlight of the evening is the awards ceremony. Su Casa Hispanic Center is presenting four awards to individuals and agencies that have made a significant contribution to the Greater Cincinnati Hispanic and Latino communities. Among the winners is Fr. William Jansen, director of the Hispanic Ministries of the Archdiocese of Cincinnati, who is receiving the prestigious Cesar Chavez Award. P&G is receiving the award for Corporate Service to Su Casa.
The award winners for 2010 are:
Cesar Chavez Award: Fr. William Jansen
Su Casa Volunteer Award: Hope Kabel
Su Casa Corporate Award: P&G
Lifetime Service Award: V. Anthony Simms-Howell
Bishop Eduardo Carmona Ortega, bishop of the diocese of Puerto Escondido in Mexico, served as the keynote speaker for the event. All proceeds benefit the educational programs and services of Su Casa Hispanic Center.
